Paeonia mairei. A species that is not widely known or grown; the seed I am offering comes from plants collected in China that I have been growing at the nursery for over five years. It is one of the earliest peonies to bloom, and provides a great splash of color in the early garden. It grows and blooms well even in fairly heavy shade, making it a natural for the woodland garden. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite peonies.
